The DHA Basic Benefit plan

For employees earning under a set salary threshold (currently AED 4,000/month), employers must provide at minimum the DHA Basic Benefit plan โ€” a standardized, low-cost health insurance product designed for exactly this purpose. Premiums for this plan are among the lowest in the market since it's a regulated minimum-coverage product.

Higher earners and dependents

For employees above the Basic Benefit salary threshold, employers can choose any DHA-approved insurer and plan, as long as it meets the minimum coverage requirements set by the regulator. Employers are not legally required to insure employees' dependents (spouse, children), though many do as a benefit.
